Koldinghus Castle – royal history just around the corner
Koldinghus was once a castle for kings and queens. Today the castle holds multiple exhibitions, all related to royal history and royal life.
For many years the romantic castle was a source of inspiration for famous writers and painters; Hans Christian Andersen even mentioned it in his letters.
After it burned to the ground in the 1800’s, restoration was slow and lacked funds. However, today it has regained its splendor and is bound to give you a thrill.

Godset, formerly the Train Cargo Storehouse, is the local venue for a variety of music performances.

Nicolai: an array of cultural activities
The Nicolai compound is a modern-day town hall boasting a multitude of cultural events.
The whole site comprises five former school buildings in central Kolding, and major activities include art exhibitions, craft workshops, concerts and a wonderful café.
Local theater: Kolding Egnsteater
Experience a big city culture just a short walk from Villa Gertrud Bed & Breakfast.
This theater house, set in one of the city’s most characteristic buildings, shows domestic and foreign plays, stand-up comedy and music events.

Skamlingsbanken: War and Resistance Memorial Site
Skamlingsbanken is the highest point in South Jutland, offering spectacular views of land and sea.
The rolling hills and steep slopes were formed during the last Ice Age.
The area around the visitor center provides rich insight into Danish Romanticism and the celebration of Danish culture and language that took place here.
The site became an assembly point for intellectuals between 1864 and 1920, when South Jutland was under German rule after Denmark’s loss in the Battle at Dybbøl.
The Geographical Gardens: Botanical Garden with a twist
Originally founded as a plant nursery by a private collector, this garden holds thousands of exotic plants arranged by geographic origin in a park-like structure.

Climb trees and have fun at GoMonkey. Enjoy great views of the landscape, formed during the last Ice Age.
The park offers 9 different climbing courses and a zip-line of 350 meters.
